Painting Over Marble Sink
My dilemma was this i don t like the color of it at all.
Painting over marble sink. To avoid drips dont get to close to the surface. One of very favorite projects so far is our painted bathroom sink counter makeover. Cultured marble is unlike other solid surface. We had our cultured marble sink and counter top painted professionally about five years ago.
They re actually closer to fiberglass or resin which means that if the surface is discolored scratched or you re just sick of it you can paint over it in good conscience. Do not paint a granite sink unless it has been sanded first or the finish will fail.
If you do get drips. I have a feeling the first coat would start to roll up if you sanded it. I have looked into those repaint kits but those seem more for laminate counter tops and not the cultured marble.
Cultured marble sinks are often constructed in a single piece with a cultured marble counter. That sink gets a lot of use. Just spray the kilz white spray paint evenly over the entire sink area getting an even coat. It was a fairly quick easy inexpensive update that made a huge difference in the feel of the rooms.
It looks so dated to me and the beige marble effect was really bringing the whole space down. The paint has held up fabulously really really nice. We bought an 80 s house with ugly cultured marble counter tops that have the molded sink in the bathrooms they are scratched and stained and have ugly color combinations. Do not paint over an unprimed granite sink or the paint will peel.
How can we cover paint these we are on a tight budget with other home reno s going on. Yep the actual sink. Don t worry about taping the sink yet. The cultured marble is not the same texture and color all the way through the counter.
It has started to peel in a couple of places. Do not use an ordinary oil based or acrylic latex paint to coat a granite sink as this will not provide enough durability. Cultured marble countertops do contain marble dust but they re not natural stone. Refinishing the sink typically requires you to refinish the counter top as well.
